Theme Day - Best Photo of the Year in 2008

Today is theme day and we're suppose to choose one photo out of the whole year that is our favorite.

I narrowed it down to three but my number one pick is this one...
#1 Pick is A Horse Hug. I think this shows alot of love and caring between both people and animal.


My number two and three pick was a toss up between these two.

The elephant eye is a favorite because I think the closeup shows emotion and feeling. Not sure how to explain it or maybe I'm reading into it more than I should.


And, this one was another favorite because it's hard to capture a bird catching a fish like this at mealtime but I got lucky in this photo.

Snowman Hat

Here's what my grandson got his dad for Christmas. What is funny about it is the carrot nose sticks up when he puts it on like a horn. He'll have to wear it at some point. I'll try and get a photo of him with it on. Our grandson is in kindergarten and they get to pick out stuff for family members from the school store. It's cute and funny to see what they pick. I didn't get to see what all he picked until Christmas day.

Christmas Day with Tucker

We gave the dogs a box of milk bones for Christmas and here he is checking it out. They each got one milk bone on Christmas Day. Chaos decided to stay out of the picture.

It's Cold Outside

It's so cold here right now. We had temperatures with wind chill last night of 20 below freezing. Tonight it's a little warmer it's suppose to be zero.

I would also like to thank all those who've volunteered to help out with the "Flat Stanley"/"Flat Landon" school project. I will be mailing them out on Monday.

Flat Stanley Project-Help Needed

Since everyone here who does the photo-a-day likes to take pictures, I was wondering if anyone could help my grandson out with a school project. He's in kindergarten. I would need your mailing address in private of course. Here's a picture of Flat Stanley...

What you do is after I mail out Flat Stanley who is "Flat Landon" instead, you would take him places in your area and take a few pictures of him in that area and/or write about it, and then send it back to the school. They are studying different areas on the map. I would gladly pay you for the pictures and postage if need be. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping my grandson. He might get a good grade.

You can look up the Flat Stanley project by googling it. I guess this sort of thing started long ago and now teachers are doing this to help the students discover other parts of the world. I would gladly send out the paperwork to as many of you who wants to do this. I need to send this out by Monday, Dec. 8th, but you have till Feb. 2nd to mail out the photos or write about your area. Thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I didn't make this cupcake, we bought it at the store. I thought it was cute for Thanksgiving. My grandson ate it and said it was really good.

Anyone braving the Black Friday sales tomorrow? I may go to AC Moore if I can. Need some crafts.

Car Wreck

My grandson's mom was in a car accident late Friday night early Saturday morning going home from work. A drunk driver hit her head on. She has a fractured rib and a broken wrist with alot of cuts and bruises. Her boyfriend bit his tongue almost in half and had to get stitches in his chin.
Here's the worst side of the car. The door is off along with everything else and the window is broken to pieces. The car is totaled.


Here's the good side what's left.

Birthday Boy

Our grandson at his birthday party about a week ago at Pizza Hut. It turned out really well and the kids love making their own pizza. I'm glad I wasn't the one cleaning up the mess afterward though.

Tucker with Weight Control

Today is Camera Critters and I thought I'd show you my dog Tucker in a happy mood. He loves to lay on his back and scratch when we go outside. (Tucker is the photo at the top of my blog too.)

The doctor said he needs to lose some weight or he'd end up with health problems like Diabetes, knee problems, etc. He has started out at 36 lbs and has lost 2 lbs in two months. I guess that's good for a small dog. He needs to lose at least another 14 lbs. We've taken away all snack foods and have reduced his food down to 1/2 cup, twice a day. Recommend allowance according to the doctor. Sometimes he gets a snack here and there, but nothing like he was. At this rate he'll reach his goal by next Christmas.

Statue of Dedication

The plaque on the front of this reads, "Dedicated in memory of Council 1314, Deceased brothers, 1993". I believe this is from the Knights of Columbus. I couldn't find anything else on the Internet about the dedication itself, but it sits in front of a building in Bellefonte and I really liked the statue and the stone work.

November Theme Day - Books

Theme day is books and I thought I'd share my own book. I wrote "Walking Down Life's Path" which is shorts stories of bits and pieces of my life. I wanted my children and grandchildren to get to know me better. If anyone is interested in reading it, you can find it on Lulu.com, Amazon and Barnes & Noble online.
