This profile view is the best picture of this American Woodcock for it shows its long bill.
The richly patterned design of this bird above shows its beauty as I saw it walking across a road in a wooded section earlier this week. I have come across quite a number of birds or animals recently crossing roads in wooded section and I think it is the time of year when I should dedicate some time in such environments to see what else I can find. I will dedicate a full day next week to following such pursuits. I look forward to it.
