I'm coming to the conclusion that there is a Brotherhood conspiring against me. My own. There's four of them.
You may recall last year that my youngest brother nearly died, but is, thank the Lord, healthy now. Well, on Tuesday night my eldest brother was involved in an absolutely freakish, very low speed car accident and was taken to Basildon hospital. They did an MRI scan of his spine yesterday, and couldn't find anything worrying, but transferred him to Queen's in Romford today as they have the specialist unit. And Queen's have said that there is damage to the spinal column, and recommend he be sent to Stoke Mandeville. John can't move from the neck down.
I am still in shock about all this, as second eldest brother only rang with the news after he left Queen's tonight. It's all a bit of a pisser, really.
So now I've spewed my news in order to get some of the lumps out of my chest, I am going to post some photographs of me in the early 80's in order to distract myself, and because I love a good meme. Had no intention of going on a big search in the attic, where many more horrors lay - these ones have made it into albums. Which live downstairs.
Thank you, Kat, for something to distract me. My lovely husband was also 50 today, and we had a four-cake fest at dinner time (Lemon, Date and Walnut, Apple Cumble and Banana).

The rest of the 80's re-lived can be found at:
This is really just the tale of a fashion victim in the early 80's. Obviously the picture quality is a little rough, as they're all scanned. The first one was taken on an instamatic!
New Year's Eve, 1979. The decade was about to change, and John Bonham was to die in September 1980, the death of a musical era for me. Youngest brother next to me in this one, and yes, the 16-year old next to him really is wearing a bow-tie.

Posh School in 1980, with friend Gordon.

Early 80's boyfriend, Rick. In Court Dress at Posh School.

First year at University, 1982. The Drag Ball (aren't students funny). I think I am meant to be Angus Young from AC/DC. Edith (moustache) was a big Aztec Camera fan. Chris (with bow) was a mathemetician.

1982 Christmas party. Obviously I have just made a joke.

Leaping forward to 1985, final year of University. On holiday in Paris with a true friend, Chris, who was a photographer and graphic designer. He only shot in black and white (colour ones are on my camera).
No idea of my future career. I just liked the guns.

French Cowboy.

French Guys.

The lovely Chris.

Cafe posing on the Champs Elysee.

Demure in Montmartre.

Tart in Montmartre (yes, that really is a leather skirt).

Jardins somewhere in Paris.

Fellini-esque at the Arc de Triomphe

C'est fini!
Happy 80s to you all, and the big "small dog step" draw will be taking place tomorrow night once we've set up for the Church Fete.
