Now We Are Seven...

The boys have always had their birthday party on the actual day of their birthday before. This appears to have set a bad precedent, as this year their birthday was on the Tuesday, and the party not until Sunday. Somehow that seems to have led to six days of celebrations and excitement over forthcoming celebrations. Not good.

Anyway, they have finally become officially seven, as at last we have had the birthday and the party. Which was not quite The Greatest Show on Earth, but close enough.
A while back I bid in a charity silent auction for the hire of cinema, and "won" it. So we had the luxury of a 69-seat cinema for our exclusive use, and a very nice projectionist called Alex. The birthday boys came to a surprisingly early consensus on what to show - Walt Disney's The Sword in the Stone.

Whilst waiting for the stragglers to arrive, the guests played Splotch Monsters, courtesy of Steve's blog, here http://asplotchmonsteraday.blogspot.com/
Here's 3 by artists you haven't seen before:

Then it was party games, and then ... the film! At which point Mr Titus fell asleep. He was later overheard declaring it "the best party ever."
The after show birthday tea was held in the restaurant upstairs, Hullabaloo, which I do recommend if you're ever in Dumfries. Fabby food.
Whilst the mayhem of simultaneously feeding 30 children between the ages of 4 and 8 ensued, the grown-ups played "Guess the Oldest Dad at the Party";

Two front-runners

whilst the chief photographer, a contender himself, concentrated on getting the "Best Shoulder Picture of a Mum distributing food whilst the Dads sit about"

Following the jelly and ice cream, it was cake time.

And we had to organise the Security, of course.

Ah well, that's another year over. Now what can we do next year...?
